About us

Small acts of care, multiplied by many people.

Golu Social Care Foundation started with a simple belief: a child's future should not depend on where they were born, and an animal's life should not depend on whether it has an owner.

We collect donations from individuals and companies and spend them on two focused programmes. Staying focused lets us know every child and every animal we support, and show you exactly where your money went.

The Foundation grew out of everyday moments that are hard to ignore: a bright child who stopped going to school because the family couldn't afford books, an injured dog on the roadside that nobody stopped for.

We realised that a little money, given regularly by many people and spent carefully, could change both stories. So we built a foundation that does exactly that, with a promise to show every donor where their money went.

The name Golu is a word of affection used across India for someone small and dear. It reminds us who we work for.

Our vision

Communities where every child learns and every animal is treated with kindness.

Our mission

Remove the barriers that keep children out of school, and reduce the suffering of stray and injured animals, by turning public generosity into well-run, accountable programmes.

Our values

What guides every decision

01

Compassion

We treat every child, family and animal with dignity and patience.

02

Transparency

Donors see where funds go. We publish accounts and keep receipts for everything.

03

Focus

Two programmes done well are better than ten done badly.

04

Community

Local volunteers, schools and residents shape and run our work.

How we work

From your donation to real change

  1. Identify

We find children at risk of dropping out and animals in need through schools, residents and our helpline.

  2. Plan

Each case gets a simple plan and budget: a school kit, tutoring, a vet visit or a feeding route.

  3. Act

Volunteers and partners deliver the support, and we pay vendors and vets directly.

  4. Report

We track outcomes and share updates and accounts with donors.

Our work · Education

Helping children start school, stay in school and do well.

Millions of children in India are in school but at risk of dropping out because of the cost of books, uniforms and fees. We step in before that happens.

School kits & fees

Bags, books, stationery, uniforms and shoes, plus fees where needed, so cost is never the reason a child stays home.

After-school tutoring

Small-group sessions with volunteer tutors to help children keep up in maths, science and languages.

Digital literacy & English

Basic computer skills and spoken English that open doors to further study and jobs.

Scholarships for girls

Support for girls moving to secondary school and beyond, when families are most likely to stop their education.

Our work · Animal welfare

Food, treatment and safety for animals with no one else.

Street dogs, cats, cattle and birds share our neighbourhoods. When they are hungry, sick or hurt, we make sure someone shows up.

Feeding drives

Regular feeding routes run by volunteers, with fresh water bowls during the summer months.

Rescue & treatment

Injured and sick animals are taken to partner vets for treatment, surgery and recovery care.

Vaccination & sterilisation

Anti-rabies vaccination and sterilisation camps that keep animals and people safe and humanely manage street populations.

Foster & adoption

Temporary shelter for recovering animals, and help finding loving homes for those who can be adopted.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where does my donation go?

Donations go to our two programmes: school supplies, fees and tutoring for children, and food, veterinary treatment and shelter for stray animals. See how we plan to use funds in our Transparency section.

Can I choose which cause my donation supports?

Yes. When you donate you can choose child education, animal welfare, or let us direct it where the need is greatest.

Will I receive a receipt for my donation?

Yes. Every donor receives a receipt by email. After donating, send your name, email, PAN (if you want a tax receipt) and transaction reference to golusocialcarefundation@gmail.com.

Is my donation eligible for tax deduction?

Tax-deduction eligibility depends on the Foundation's registration under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. Please ask us for our current registration details before claiming a deduction.

Can I donate every month?

Yes, and monthly giving helps us plan ahead. You can scan our QR code each month, or write to us and we'll help you set up a regular gift.

Can I get a refund if I donated by mistake?

Yes, if you contact us within 7 days. See our Donation & refund policy for details.

How do you choose which children to support?

We work with local schools, community leaders and families to identify children who are out of school or at risk of dropping out because of cost. We visit each family before enrolling a child.

How do I report an injured or abandoned animal?

Use the contact form with the subject "Animal rescue report", or call us on +91 77959 70479. Share the exact location and, if possible, a photo.

Do you run a shelter?

We provide temporary shelter and foster care for animals recovering from treatment, and help find adoptive homes. Healthy community animals are vaccinated, sterilised and returned to their area, in line with Indian animal birth control rules.

How can I volunteer?

Fill in the volunteer form on our Get involved page. You can teach, help at feeding drives, assist at vaccination camps or support us remotely with design, writing and outreach.

Do I need experience to volunteer?

No. We match you to tasks that suit your skills and time, and give a short orientation before you start. Volunteers working with children go through a background check.

Can my company partner with you for CSR?

Yes. We work with companies on sponsored programmes, employee volunteering and donation-matching. Write to us through the partnership form.

Can I donate books, clothes or pet food instead of money?

Yes. Please contact us first so we can tell you what is needed right now and where to drop it off.

Do you work with government schools?

Yes. Most children we support study in government or low-fee schools. We work alongside teachers and never replace the school system.

Can I sponsor a specific child?

We support children through a shared fund rather than one-to-one sponsorship, which protects children's privacy and lets us respond to urgent needs. Donors receive regular programme updates.

Can I adopt or foster an animal?

Yes. Write to us with the subject "Volunteer" and mention fostering or adoption. We do a short home check and stay in touch after the animal goes home.
